Lessons from the road and studio

This site is built from the road up—real experience, not theory. After more than 45 years behind the kit, teaching, performing, and logging over 60 shows a year across the country, I’ve learned what actually works and what doesn’t when it comes to playing drums at a high level. The goal here is simple: help serious drummers improve their skills, tighten their playing, and get more enjoyment out of the instrument. You’ll find practical insight drawn from live performance—groove, consistency, dynamics, endurance, and the small details that separate average players from dependable ones.
Beyond playing, I also share honest, experience-based perspectives on drum gear—kits, cymbals, sticks, heads, and hardware. This isn’t marketing talk; it’s what holds up on stage, night after night, and what falls short when it matters. If you’re looking to make smarter gear decisions, refine your approach, and build a solid, reliable foundation as a drummer, you’re in the right place.
